5 SEO Lessons Learned from the Ituloy angsulong contest

This is the first of series of post that would summarize the lessons learned by an SEO neophyte like me from joining the 2nd SEO Philippines' ituloy angsulong SEO contest. After a week of working on my two official ituloy angsulong entries, this ituloy angsulong blog has achieved a fairly good ranking at Google. (no. 4). While my other ituloy angsulong entry was struggling to get into the frontliners in the three search engines, Google, Yahoo and MSN. Ok, here then are 5 SEO lessons I learned so far.

1. It pays to host your ituloy angsulong blog on Blogger, once Google crawled your blog there's no stopping it from being in front of the ituloy angsulong pack. Proof of that is marcghil's blog. It's been in the frontline of Google ituloy angsulong results the whole week.
2. Keyword specific domain is not a guarantee that your ituloy angsulong blog would make it to the top results of the search engines. Some free hosted blog are performing well. (blogsome, blogspot, wordpress, even livejournal!)
3. It pays to have a blog with PR5-higher that you can link to. If blog friends won't link to your blog, you can always turn to your higher ranking non ituloy angsulong blog.
4. Those free hosted, almost dead blogs that you created a long time ago could be useful still. resurrect those blogs and link to your ituloy angsulong entry blog.
5. Patience is a virtue. Enough said.
